Video Sampling
|

In 1990 Darryl Hell told me to look out for a band called Emergency Broadcast Network. A few years latter I saw the first 'video music' project perform live and over time develop the first video samplers. Years before I started work as Nau-Zee-auN I had envisioned a multimedia barage that included live video sample triggering and manipulation.
Now, 15 years after the first video samplers were used by EBN, with the help of Jared Falcon (November 14) Nau-Zee-auN beta tested our first video sampling set as the opening for TERRORFAKT, TONIKOM and CENOTYPE at the Skybar in Somerville.
On December 2nd at the Worcester Artist Groups's 20 year anniversary, we launched our second video based set with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Andy Vomit.

Deftly-D
has just become a full fledged member of legendary industrial outfit
Abstinence.
'Abstinence was one of the first industrial projects
that I ever saw live, and was a major early influence on my work
in Zero Times Infinity and Nau-Zee-auN. Abstiennce along with projects
like Emergency Broadcast Network, Consolidated, Einstruzende Neubatin,
Institute of Technology, The Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy and
Meat Beat Manifesto, raised the bar on how great live industrial
music and performance art could be. In a culture where electronic
music performance is devolving into rock and roll bands and laptop
performers barely aware of their audiences, projects like Abstinence
are more important than ever, and I'm honored to be a part of this
legendary project.'

"In the two years before the elections,
the Florida secretary of state's office quietly ordered the removal
of 94,000 voters from the registries. Supposedly, these were
convicted felons who may not vote in Florida. Instead, the overwhelming
majority were innocent of any crime, though just over half were
black or Hispanic." Martin
Luther King III and Grag Palast reporting in The Baltimore Sun (read

Nau-Zee-auN
is in discussion with the offices of Greg
Palast about a collaboration using interviews and
spoken commentary from Greg Palast with music by Nau-Zee-auN. Greg
Palast is an investigative journalist who among other things found
2 cd-rom's used in Florida's 2000 elections to illegally bar tens
of thousands of African-American Democratic voters in order to fudge
the results
of the presidential election so that George Bush would win in Jeb
Bush's state. For more on this and other work of Greg Palast see
